Focuses on foundational skills including early operations (addition and subtraction), number recognition (1–20), writing numerals, basic measurement (weight and height), time-telling, and an introduction to place value (Tens & Units).
Develops literacy through Phonics (Phase 2/3), blending and segmenting for reading VC and CVC words, correct letter formation, and the introduction of High Frequency “tricky words.” It progresses to simple sentence construction and early grammar (singular/plural, articles, nouns, and verbs).
Covers core concepts in Human Biology (inner organs, growth, senses, diet), the Living World (sorting living vs. non-living, types of animals, plants), and Physical Science (sources of water, air, light, and weather observation).
Encourages self-expression and fine motor skills through colour theory (primary colours, mixing), self-portraits, cutting skills, beading, rhythm, and construction (junk modelling). It also incorporates cultural awareness through traditional songs and dress-up role-play.
Builds phonological awareness and vocabulary through counting songs, action rhymes about the body and hygiene, road safety songs, and rhymes related to community and growth.
Instills good citizenship and responsibility by focusing on a Balanced Diet, Personal Care, Sickness Prevention, Road Safety, Good Manners, Respect for Elders, and identifying key roles and places within the community (People Who Help Us).
Reinforces personal wellbeing with a focus on Internal Body and Senses, Oral Hygiene (brushing, dentist role play), Diet and Sickness (identifying healthy/unhealthy food), and Personal Safety (stranger danger, good touch/bad touch, harmful substances).
